Portraits by Stephanie Nückel.
Stephanie Nückel was one of fourteen artists at KunstLeben Berlin’s excellent group show entitled, ‘New York Meets Berlin’ last year. Her part of the exhibition was one of my favourites.
I love it when I can look at a set of images and look … and look … and look … and it just doesn’t become boring. Well, looking at beautiful women is a particularly tough job, but, hey – someone has to do it, right?
Creating works of art that have this magnetic effect in the first place, is a skill or talent I greatly admire.
Helmut Newton was quoted as saying,
‘A woman must remain mysterious… I hate things that are explicite.’
Nicely said, despite that the women in his photos are as mysterious to me as a red traffic light is.
Maybe it takes a female artist to portray this mysterious aspect, offering a slight glimpse without revealing too much of it. This creates an atmosphere where the dualistic nature of vulnerability and strength becomes perceptible.
Are you looking for mysterious, sensual female portraits? Make sure to have a look at Stephanie Nückel’s work.
All works are acrylic on canvas.
